The Forgotten Kettlebell Windmill & an Oldie but Goodie

“A Kettlebell Training Video Post by Jason C. Brown & Pamela MacElree of Kettlebell Athletics”

There are many variations of the Kettlebell Windmill. For some reason the variation that Pamela covers in this video has fallen out of view.

This Kettlebell Windmill variation is by far my favorite.

Next up we have another kettlebell “Mostability” exercise known as the “Kettlebell Armbar.”

Since posting last week on my 90/90 T-spine Kettlebell exercise I received many email request asking for a video demo of the Kettlebell Armbar. So here it is.

Both of these kettlebell exercises are what we call, “Kettlebell Mo-stability” exercises since they promote the combination of motion or mobility along-side stability.

These kettlebell exercises are to be performed for low reps and low sets. They are not kettlebell conditioning or strength exercises.

  1. Awesome exercise Jason…nice variation.

Thanks for posting the windmill variaton video. Since I added windmills and TGUs to my own exercise routine, I’ve found I’m able to go longer on my climbs / hikes without having to deal with weight-related (pack) backpain. Excellent core strength exercise w/o a doubt.

  3. Nice ROM Jason. Thanks for the 2 great videos I am increasing the KB workouts that I am doing and look forward to trying these 2 variations. Great technique tips

    Awesome exercise. Thanks!

    Pam,
I always get a sore SI joint after doing windmills. Any idea why? Thanks.

Hope all is well with you two!

Tyrus, Great to hear those carry over stories, thank you.

Bob, Not sure I can say with 100% certainty. Feel free to email me, any pre existing injuries? We can always check your form as well. Might have something to do with your chosen sport, but let’s see if we can figure this out.

Jason, We are old…so very old ;-)
